Vishakapatnam railway station get
WiFi facilities later this month. Central government promised to provide
railway stations with free WiFi and some cities were given priority. Among the
top 100 cities, Vishakapatnam was ranked 20. The WiFi project is launched at a
cost of Rs.2 Crores.
WiFi modems already installed in
each space of 100 meters. In this sense, D.R.M.Chandralekha Mukherjee said,
"The installation of WiFi will be free for the first 30 minutes after
charges are applicable.
We have covered the connection
across eight platforms. All work will be completed in a couple of weeks. The
Wi-Fi system will be online from the end of this month. We have already signed
a memorandum of understanding with WiFi Rail Tel facilitating the station.
Google has also offered
assistance to provide the project with security measures. We ask public to make
use of this service. Internet speed is not calculated. However, we have decided
to keep the speed at a speed of 512 Kbps. "
