CRPF personnel killed in a landmine blast in Chhattisgarh.
Raipur: Seven CRPF personnel were
killed on Wednesday and their weapons looted after naxals carried out a deadly
mine explosion targeted a vehicle in the jungles of the district most affected
Naxal-Dantewada of Chhattisgarh.
Authorities said the incident
occurred near the axis of Basaras-Kuakonda in the village Melawada in that
district when a Tata-709 mini-truck force a land mine came in about 4 hours and
all seven occupants were killed the impact of the explosion.
The mine was skillfully placed by
the Maoists under the 'top black or puccka' road and the soldiers were
traveling in a convoy of three vehicles, they said.
The vehicle and troops were blown
to pieces and a crater four feet was created in the place where the explosion
occurred, they said.
They said the soldiers belonged
to the 230th battalion of the force deployed in the south Bastar for anti-Naxal
operations.
Preliminary reports said the team
was led by a deputy inspector-rank officer and went for an administrative task,
since they were not in uniform.
"All weapons of the soldiers
have been looted by the Naxalites. Squads have reached the point
reinforcement" they said.
Acting Home Minister Ajay
Chandrakar of Chhattisgarh also reported in the state Assembly that seven security
personnel were killed in Naxal attack.
