Medak get Godavari drinking water from May
Medak district is all set to
receive drinking water from the Godavari river in the first week of May, under
the prestigious project of water network Bhagiratha state government, as
announced by the Minister of Panchayat Raj KT Rama Rao on 26 August 2015.
Irrigation department officials
are in a race against time to allocate about 60 percent of the water of the
Godavari Drinking Water Project (GDWP) Phase-I, as indicated by the state
government. Currently, the city receives about 2.8 million gallons per day
through GDWP. About 18 MGD would be diverted through the water network to meet
the needs of water in Medak district.
The works of the water network
are running at an accelerated in nine districts of Medak district rhythm. The
program includes water supply pipe network here intra people with service
reservoirs are standing at a cost of Rs 700 crore. It would provide drinking
water to segment Gajwel in Medak district of Yellampalli. At least Rs 670 crore
has been allotted in two phases in order to provide drinking water to
Yellampally, Mancherial, Chennur segments also Khanapur district of Adilabad
district.
