46 countries participate for upcoming Defense Expo scheduled in Goa

This is the first time that the Expo will travel to Goa from Delhi.

Panaji: With more than 977 companies from 46 countries and register for upcoming Defense Expo scheduled in Goa, the Defence Ministry has said the case is directing the path of steady growth.

"Defexpo India 2016, the ninth in the series of biennial land, and Homeland Security National Naval systems exhibition will be held in Quepem taluka Naqueri Quitol in South Goa 28-31 March, 2016," he said the ministry on its website designed for this internationally renowned event.

"Defence expo India is clearly directing the path of steady growth and has been receiving overwhelming international response and unprecedented in each issue," he said.

This is the first time that the Expo will travel to Goa from Delhi.

According to the Ministry, to date 977 companies and 46 countries have registered to participate in the Expo. For this edition, countries like USA, Russia, Switzerland ,Republic of Korea, Sweden, United Arab Emirates and Portugal, among others have confirmed their participation.

"The 8th edition of Defence expo India which took place in February 2014 recorded an unprecedented growth in domestic and foreign companies, as well as the participation of more than its previous editions," said the Ministry.

"An impressive number of 232 foreign companies from 32 countries participated in the program in 2014 with 15 pavilions of countries with growth of 12.64 percent in terms of booking space," he said.
This year, on the first day, March 28, hosts seminars including "technology in the Initiative and requirements shipyards Indian Defense shipbuilding" would take place. There will be a session on "International Cooperation in Maritime Research and development futuristic" and "Advanced Technologies in underwater construction."

The next day, March 29, the Associated Body Industrial Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) will hold a one-day Global Investors Summit in the defense sector.

Similarly, there will be a seminar on private sector participation in the development program of Defense, which will be chaired by Smita Nagraj, Director General (Procurement), Union Ministry of Defence.

The event also will host a discussion on "the collaboration of Defense and joint ventures with global partners" to be chaired by K Nagaraj Naidu, Director of the Division of Investment Promotion and Technology of the Ministry of Defense of the Union.

The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) also provided a seminar on "The defense off the set: challenges and opportunities" during the event.


Another industry body Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) will host "India Seminar on Defense Cooperation Korea and business meet" and also the discussion on the modernization program of the Indian Army.
