Train travel that used to start from buying a ticket waiting in the long lines have now taken a turn digital mobile applications.
Every day on average, between 250 and 300 passengers are downloading the 'Food on the track' App in Southern Railway.
Chennai: train rides that used to
start from buying a ticket waiting in long lines, arriving at the station,
grocery shopping, getting off the train and get to your destination have now
taken a digital twist with mobile applications (applications) that dominates
human procedures at all levels travel.
"Every day on average,
between 250 and 300 passengers are downloading the 'Food on the track' App in
Southern Railway. The feedback we receive from passengers in this IRCTC
application is encouraging as food delivery for the train has always been
punctual "S.Ganapathy, head of IT, IRCTC, Southern Railway said.

UTS (Ticketing System without
reservation) Application
The App UTS that could be downloaded
on Android and Windows-based platforms has facilities for: a) the normal
reserve, b) fast reservation, c) and d season tickets) ticket reservation
platform. According to Southern Railway sources, at least 1,100 passengers
daily download the application.
Centralised resolution of Public
complaints and Control System (CPGRAMS)
The aim of CPGRAMS is used to
correct the complaints of various departments / ministries / government
organizations the issues raised by passengers.
The application that was introduced
in April 2014 is enabled to provide accommodation online and track the status
of citizen complaints online network. A passenger may submit a complaint, make
a reminder and see the state.

introduced in 43 divisions across the country has not yet been implemented in
Southern Railway. The installation can be downloaded, and blackberry phone
based on Windows Android makes it easy for passengers to ask for the cleaning
staff in the compartment. More than 3,500 passengers have downloaded the
application that was introduced experimentally in South Western railways within
a month.
